YES!! And also agree that obviously he wasn't 'the one' but they could have kept him around longer.

I tried to 'follow along' with my re-re-re-re-re-re watching at 2 eps a week… and I kind just watched the entire show again already. Restart?

I think you make a good point that what happened was realistic. When I watched the show as it aired, I was so angry at Rory and her life choices, and I hated the show for doing that, for ruining my precious awkward Rory and turning her into someone I didn't think she would be.
Now when I rewatch, I do think that her

wow, they gave the Pilot and Kill Me Now D's ….

I think Rory had a hard time recognizing or vocalizing Paris as a best friend (or one of her best friends) because they would be doing really well and then something would happen that would make Paris crazy mad at her again. I think the final turning point would be when Paris dumps Doyle and Rory is still there for

they were not married. It counts as a totally massive c-block for Chris and Lorelai, but it wasn't an unplanned teenage pregnancy.

also when she marries Zack: "You're going to have to do it with a boy. Hopefully, if you're lucky like me, you'll only have to do it once"

because of this episode, whenever I see anyone with really nice hair I think about how I want to run my hands through it, Lane Kim Style.

I love seeing this shit every week!

exactly. The Gilmores (Emily and Richard) live by what one should do in society.

LOL, at all of this

spoiler alert:
I know in the last season Luke impulsively buys a new boat and Lorelai is shocked and says something like it used to take you 3 weeks to buy a new shirt, and he says well "things change" etc.

confession, I thought that the scene at Luke's where Dean says happy birthday to Rory was super cute
/confession

I read "Ugh Dean" and LOL'd … that is his character in essence … "Ugh Dean"

This was the scene that made me truly love the show. In essence it is kind of corny, but it is done so well and warms my robot heart. Love this scene.

the eyes their children will have. I welcome them as our new gods.

just want to echo the other commenter that Lorelai's issue with Rory's relationship with her grandparents is a huge part of the show, and rears its 'ugly' head many times throughout the show. I think the reviewer meant that it's not representative of how petty Lorelai acts in this episode.

PLEASE AV CLUB, please! I beg!
and she's always such a great interview too
