Unless I’m misreading this, WB said, paraphrasing:

As others have pointed out, they probably see it as a failure because it will never again make them nearly as much money as it did in 2023. Chances are future sales will be middling, at best.

So let me get this straight: they just had Hogwarts Legacy, a best-selling game of 2023 that’s single-player with no microtransactions and no live-service component to it, and Suicide Squad which is a GaaS disaster (in a successful Arkham series that was single-player up to this point) that went as low as 250 players

After the WB Discovery merger I feel like all the execs that knew what they were doing left the company. HBO Max I would have said is one of the best streaming services you can get but I feel like it’s become a shell of what it was. Also I don’t understand dropping the HBO brand, maybe it’s my age but HBO is way more

They are going to keep pushing a future where everything in a game is monetized. The bean counters and executives are making these decisions and the creatives will just have to work around them. I won’t be playing those games however.

it’s worse than that. it’s a live service game with a story that explains canonically why you’re doing live service stuff.

It’s no longer about giving us quality games. It’s about turning console games into app games with in game purchases. Look, I’m not a competitive gamer. I don’t play Fortnite, Apex and COD players to prove I’m the best player. At that point it becomes a sport. I hate sports! I like to go on single player action/adventu

Oh good, so not only did they learn the opposite of what Suicide Squad’s failure should have taught them, they’ve also decided to only milk four franchises from now on.

> You should snag Fire and Ice materia from Chadley as soon as you can, as this will let a character cast both Lightning and Wind for the cost of just one materia slot

While I never lost a substantial amount of time, there were more than a few occasions where I lost a handful of hours of progress because I switched to another game before planting a hard save.

OHHHHH an “X number of things” post that isn’t a slideshow, thanks for that! Good to know about the autosave.

God I wish this was me. My ADHD ass took to autosave way too easily, and now any game that requires manual saving without blatant save points is ROUGH.

PSA: No, don’t do this. They’ll explain it in the game, just like they explained the new characters in Remake (the kids from the light novel).

This whole games-as-a-service model needs to be burnt down to the ground. We’ve let them have it their way with that model and DLC and sh*t is outta control. You own nothing, and when the game inevitably has an EOS, you get nothing, not even any silly trophies you earned, and they have all of your coin.

I’m a fan of the remake, but I also agree that there is so much to like about Ever Crisis’s presentation and mechanics that are wasted in a gacha mobile game.

What would they even do for a new console? I imagine it’s gonna feel like PS5.5, at best. Like, come on, man. I just got mine last February. Let’s get some more Sony stuff in the pipe.

Totally agree.  I’ve only played 1 PS5 game which was a new release and not an upgrade from the PS4 version I already owned.

Man, my PS5 still feels like a newish addition to my console collection. I have no desire for an upgrade. It doesn't even feel like games are pushing it to its limits yet.

I’m confused. I have yet to see more than a handful of truly next gen games. It feels like we barely have enough legitimate next-gen titles to launch a console with. Unless the PS6 comes with something truly unbelievable I’m probably going to hold out until the “pro” variant comes out and stick with PC gaming in the

Basically Keith David in Saints Row 4. You can romance anyone in that game, except for him.
