True, that was Eisenhower's campaign slogan. However, it is also the slogan for Ike's Sandwiches. In fact, their website is ilikeikesplace dot com.

Isn't he referring to Ike's sandwiches? They have one at Stanford and there are others around the Bay Area.

Huh?

I don't think that Vikings has EVER played by the rules of historical fiction any more than the Ten Commandments did.

I do not like feasting on a sea gull
while my children gaze upon a blood eagle.

No one wants to watch a film about the presidency of Gerald Ford. They prefer to watch mythical films about JFK, FDR or Nixon. There just isn't enough going on in history to make a show that captures the REAL history of the Vikings. Yes, there were some plunders. However, there was more time spent fishing than

Yes, but there is no true recorded history from that time — as it happened. This isn't a college history course covering the Vikings circa 750-950 A.D. This isn't even a literature course covering the epics about Ragnar.

The entire life of Ragnar is apocryphal at best. There *probably* was a Ragnar and he *probably* did some important things with the Vikings and he *probably* was the father of these children.

It could be a combination of several "medicines."

I could see this Ragnar faking his own capture and death. I suppose that he could carry this out in any number of ways. It would be funny if he "escaped" life by fleeing to China with Yidu or settling in North America. After all, a Viking shipbuilder named Flóki Vilgerðarson discovers Iceland around this time period.

The “new” Krysten (Amanda Fuller) is terrible. Terrible. She doesn’t fit on the show. She isn’t a dreamy idealist like the original Krysten. Now, we’re stuck with a cynical know-it-all.

How do you like Black Sails? I am interested in it. Marco Polo (Netflix) is good, despite the gratuitous amount of naked Mongolian women in every single episode.

While most stories of Ragnar end with his death in the snake pit, there are a few variations of the story. In fact, one such account has Ragnar living while in the snake pit because of a garment that Aslaug made for him that protected him from the snake bites.

The good news is that poor Boneless will grow up to be a good Viking king.

Yeah…but Egbert apparently lives a long life and dies of natural causes as an old (for 10th century standards) man. Of course, the show doesn't have to follow history.
