Disclaimer: I have never camped for an iPhone, but I do like camping for things like REI garage sales, Black Friday deals, Chick-Fil-a openings, etc. Maybe one day I would camp for an iPhone, who knows. Its just fun to hang out with people who are excited by the same things you are. Mindless fanboy, I am not.

Who was the last Apple fan that was camping for a phone that got saw the phone for the first time in an unboxing video? It's always first shown at an Apple press conference.

I think this is a great point and the crux of this issue is: "it's important to remember that "new" and "different" always come at a premium." My first Mac (Mac 2) was $5500 and it had like 20mb of hard drive space with 16mhz CPU. As I type this on a $1600 Macbook Pro i7 laptop, I am hopeful that the future bodes well…
