Does anyone else get the vibe that sex worker activists skew to the hipster/educated/alterna-trendy set and don’t exactly represent the wider range of people involved in sex work? I know almost nothing about this so feel free to set me straight.

She’s got echoes of Fiona Apple

The fuck is up with the Jez video title “Slay Queen Gina Deflects Sexist Questions on Torture”? That’s a joke right?

Exactly!

I first saw this story on another outlet, and it is being spun to fit the “poor Jenna still loves John” narrative that is starting to piss me off. She was with her *husband* at the time, and she mentions Emily Blunt on equal par with John. Of course that’s not reflected in the headline though. Go on Jenna, ignore this

Damn, ok girl. I generally roll all the eyes at any celebrity running for office - and while I will continue to do so, this interview surpassed my expectations.

As an anxiety puker myself, all respect!!!

Red flag with this sentence: “Looks and a hefty dose of narcissism is all there is.” Sounds like this guy doesn’t have a lot of respect for his wife as a person (other than approving of her mothering skills). Which is a bad foundation for a relationship. Even if she quit her day job, he would have to learn to respect

Misdirected anger - he should sue his parents for giving him that name.

Interesting, I didn’t know that! I wonder if it has anything to do with male partners wanting their sperm/DNA to be involved, so the couple is willing to pay 10x the price? Creepily enough, the outfit behind the pregnancy in this news story is a pro-life embryo donation center: https://www.embryodonation.org/about/

I wish Jez had dug a little deeper into the organization behind this pregnancy - it is a pro-life organization that encourages the donation of, and implantation of, otherwise unused frozen embryos because... Christianity?!?! They state “Our mission is to protect the lives and dignity of human embryos.”

Ugh, already breaking my word...If you think wrangling a room full of screaming kids is easy work I would encourage you to substitute teach sometime. Everyone is angry at you because you are completely devaluing women and the work we do. I understand your math. Plus you are still ducking the fact that early industry

Our union represents lots of industry not just steel - metals (obvs), heavy and light manufacturing, oil and gas, rubber, paper, chemical, utilities, healthcare... we all consider ourselves Women of Steel because we all work hard to build, repair, and care for our communities, and our labor is fucking hard and

The thousands of members of USW Women of Steel would love to chat with you sometime about the cushy work they do!

Uuuuuh, your premise is false. Some industries in the west might have mostly male workers (construction, coal in its day) but nowhere near “almost exclusively.” Ever heard of garment workers? When I worked auto assembly it was 50/50. Tons of women (and many children) in dirty, dangerous industry in developing world.

I came here for the cover photo

Exactly! “Invisible” netting that doesn’t fit right is just obvious and distracting. Makes this look cheap and poorly made, which is a shame because I could otherwise love this.

If you major in Poli Sci in college, you learn pretty quick it’s 60% nerdy white boys lacking social skills desperate for a hand job, 30% people with power lust, and 10% reasonable people with healthy life goals. We can extrapolate from here what that means for workplace culture...

I’m reading this on Jezebel, it doesn’t list anywhere that it’s a Root post. Trust me, I do not make a habit of inserting myself into the comment sections of the Root, I know it’s not my place.
