Hm. While I don't really disagree, I'd say that the reason she seems innocent is because she's reactive to all of the people around her. I think the show's only treatment of her as an initiating agent of a situation rather than balancer of forces was alluded to: her pursuit of Philip and insistence on "obey."

I hear that. I find monarchy to be undesirable as a form of government. But from a storytelling perspective you get a family drama with high stakes, so I'm into it. Especially since all of the actors are so good.

The thing with stories is that there has to be a central conflict. I mean, who cares if some alcoholic ad man wins and then loses the Hilton account? Who cares if a bunch of horny counselors escape from the hockey mask-wearing reanimated spirit of a drowned camper? Who cares if a couple of horny, star crossed…
