Jinx, I owe you a Coke, or something...

I live on Whidbey, happy to host a Jezzie cocktail hour/bunny ogling fest. Unfortunately I live about 20 minutes north of Langley, but we could all hop in the family minivan and make it a road party. Couple of decent bars and a really good pizza joint in downtown Langley.

Hi Blisterina! Whidbey Islander here, heading to your neck of the woods next month for one of my son’s sportsball type thingies. Is the British pub by the ferry dock still in operation?

Now playing

I have lived on Whidbey for nearly 15 years. We have a massive varmint problem island-wide, with rats and raccoons causing far more damage than the cute and fluffy little thunder-stealers in Langley. Also, always looking for a good excuse to post this:

Did not know that, so much love and respect for her! I have Sjogren’s as a secondary diagnosis to EDS type 3, and just thinking about her daily workout regimen is enough to trigger a flare.

Wendy H from Cocoa, is this you? Because seriously, you just described precisely how my middle school bestie and I spent 1979-1982.

Swimsuit coverups as dresses or blouses work so well for keeping cool, dry, and relatively funk-free. Most are made from fabrics that are very light, saving valuable suitcase space. They dry quickly, and they wick moisture away from the body. I have three in regular use right now that look like cute summer dresses.

All the points to you for mixing in a Firefly reference! This may just be my favorite comments section of an article EVER!

Excellent, tried to read the original David Brooks column, couldn’t stomach it. Frankly, I’d rather go express my dog’s swollen anal gland. The putrid fluid trapped there probably stinks far less than Brooks’ pseudo-intellectual white splainin’.

Also, something I definitely should have mentioned, because, context. My med regimen is far lighter than most EDS patients. Seven years ago I caught mono, which resulted in chronic EBV (lucky me!) and also lead to further delay of a correct EDS diagnosis. Because of the EBV, I have to be overprotective of my liver.

I feel you, I was misdiagnosed for over twenty years, and have a shit ton of diagnoses on my chart, fibromyalgia being one of many. I live in fear of addiction, long tortured family history, so narcotics are a very last resort/worst case scenario option. My regimen at this point is fairly simple. I take Cymbalta 60mg

As a person living with chronic pain, I can easily see how. I have EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) which causes chronic joint and soft tissue pain. Until recently, pain control for EDS was not very well understood, and narcotic pain meds, which really don’t help much at all (except for rendering one stoned enough for the

Have you tried tiny box wines? They’re precious little juice boxes for grownups, and they don’t weigh your purse down as much as tiny glass wine bottles when you’re trying to smuggle them into the movies or a concert!

Yep, it is! Fortunately the dress trap was the only one I fell into, lol. We did everything else diy, before diy was trendy and Pinterest guilted us into thinking we had to do it that way. We had a lot of talented friends who helped with the music, flowers, decor, etc., hired our favorite German deli to cater, and had

It all worked out well in the end. Got exactly what I wanted and saved a shit-ton of $$$. Wish I had just gone the seamstress route in the first place. Fell into the wedding-industrial-complex trap of believing that the gown-shopping ritual is a requisite bridal rite of passage. ;-)

Got the same warnings when I decided to go this route. Got multiple references for seamstresses, from entire bridal parties, with pictures. It worked out well, and saved me from hiring one particular seamstress with a few less-than-happy brides in her wake.

I feel you, and totally got what you were trying to say there. Shopping for a wedding gown when one is both plus-size and super short is a very disheartening venture. After much heartbreak over fit and price, went with a seamstress who altered an inexpensive pattern to my proportions.

CUTE dress! Mine was very similar, with a wider and lower neckline. Figured if I was going to have to invest a significant portion of my wedding apparel budget on a good longline strapless bra, I was certainly going to show off the results!

I'm a very short (5ft1 on a good day) person who was a size 22 bride. What gowns I found that would fit needed drastic alteration for not just the skirt length, but for my short torso as well. The solution for me was to find a good local independent seamstress who was able to take a readily available Alfred Angelo for

The school should also open an investigation into the competence of the faculty yearbook advisor(s). What kind of teacher allows that word salad to go to print? I'd say there may be a good case here for negligence.
