A new Paul Verhoeven movie will arrive in 2016. It's his first French film and it's called "Elle". It stars Isabelle Huppert and it has as a central theme something which you can find in almost every Verhoeven film: "Rape".

I just saw it. It's very entertaining, but it isn't an A. B+ or 4 out of 5 stars sounds about right.

Miranda Otto didn't star in Rubicon. That was Miranda Richardson.

Geert Wilders doesn't enjoy murder. That's why I like him better than Muhammad and Allah.

I don't like "The Babadook (2014)". It annoyed me. I liked the idea of "It Follows (2014)", but unfortunately the film lost its faith in the idea.

"This is the sort of show that would’ve been laughed off the screen after
an episode or two on broadcast, and yet there it sits on Netflix’s
electronic shelves, a pulsating pus-ridden boil waiting for the next
unsuspecting victim to click through."

It will have a big opening. But the reviews will probably be like… "meh". J.J. Abrams isn't and will never be James Cameron.

What race is a Muslim? And do some people turn into a different race when they become one?

"It reminded me of the movie Sunshine, where they approach the missing
first ship, and when they are about to enter, you see a subliminal flash
of a photo of the first crew — so fast that you cannot see what it is
at first."

We can always respond on our own clock. No need for the "internet" us to be in the "now".

Looks great. Looks like the Coen Brothers film I adore. Let's go!

I've no idea what that was all about. But I loved it. "Picnic at Hanging Rock" sorta stuff.

I'm missing Kairo (2001), El Orfanato (2007), À l'intérieur (2007), Lake Mungo
(2008)

I was into rap (sorta) between 1987 and 1989. I remember NWA running from the police in a videoclip. There were better artists, though. But hey, sounds like an amusing movie!

PS: The other one should have been in the Cult Canon of the AV Club. I own the Danny Peary books: No Friedkin. Cinema owes Friedkin. Show the dude a bit of respect…

It was one hell of a bombastic ride, for sure. That's what I like about it.

"You don't have to agree, but do you honestly think that just telling someone to become you is going to work?"

"FIGHT ME."

"That he would go back to Hannibal at the end of this episode was disappointing…"

"That Will Graham would do so again after he has had years to contemplate it all has completely neutered his character."
