“Don’t even go there.” Go where? Suggesting that $16hr, good pay or not, isn’t enough to keep a security guard at their post during an active shooter situation? Dude, don’t impose your wage politics on this issue. That’s not what anybody is talking about.

I would argue that military, police and firefighting are more vocations than mere ‘jobs’, and they come with added brainwashing/indoctrination/esprit de corps/whatever you want to call it. TSA agents don’t have that, and they’re apparently not even properly trained.

No: JFK Airport (you know, where the incident in question took place and the TSA agents we’re talking about presumably live) is in New York City; you said that you live in Colorado. But then you said that where one lives doesn’t matter: I was proving that statement to be incorrect. I live in Houston and the cost of

Intelligence is not what gets people pensions. That’s not how the world works. It’s as if you just arrived here out of a time machine. It’s really rather quaint. You sound like my senile grandmother who lives in a hospital. She doesn’t understand the modern world either.

$16 an hour is good pay so don’t even go there? Maybe if you live in a NYC sewer, steal your clothes from a garbage bin next to a homeless shelter and get your food from a dumpster next to the sanitation department garage. $16 an hour in the Tristate NY/NJ/CT is like 50 cents a day in China. You have no freaking idea.

$14 an hour. Think again. Jimmy likely isn’t breaking 11 an hour as unarmed security.

The dissuasion is certainly possible, but I wouldnt go so far as to call it likely. Two reasons for that

No shit. I make over $22/hr and am not in poverty or anything, but definitely not wiping my ass with $100 bills. My brother makes $16/hr and lives with me because he can’t afford his own apartment without a roommate and he can’t do that right now. $16/hr is good money if you’re single with no kids and live with your

I’ll go there. That’s shit wages for the New York City area. Barely livable for a single person and impossible to maintain a family on.

Except most security guards aren’t cops. Most are trained to observe, assist but otherwise get the fuck out of the way of the real police.

Point is that the only thing making you safe is the lack of people interested in attacking airports.

Unless there’s a shadow organization that somehow no one has ever heard of taking down would-be terrorists, the only reason we haven’t had another 9/11 is that very few people have bothered to try, and those who have

You’re full of shit if you think $16 an hour is a livable wage in New York.

You’re aware that despite the vigilante fantasies of gun nuts online and people that are assured they know exactly how they would react in any given situation, most people have no control over their fight or flight response, right?

But their security measures are so well thought out....

This was recently unearthed as part of the training video for an active shooter or terrorist situation:

The terrorists are winning the “war on terror” because they consistently make us more afraid than we make them afraid.

It’s not just the guards, it’s the sheeple too. Maybe the idea that people in the US once had a back-bone is just a fantasy of mine. Sounds like everyone just ran around even though there was no visible threat. Just the idea of a threat was enough to for them to stampede.

This comment needs more stars. Honestly, people need to calm the fuck down. If you’re gonna die that day, then you’re gonna die. Panicking only increases your chances of that happening. The terrorists are winning the “war on terror” because they consistently make us more afraid than we make them afraid.

I can understand the cowardliness. Almost no one would ever be willing to give their life for strangers.

It’s obvious security theater people.
