As Brassy said, it was Steve Page and drugs (in the dining room with the candlestick). He always had some substance abuse issues, and his departure from the band to "pursue a broadway career" was just a ridiculous cover. My impression of the other guys is that they are all incredibly nice guys, who tried to help their
