Speaking as a certified old person* who’s got a few decades of media consumption under her belt and has already gone through enough rounds of “nope, I really don’t want to see content like that again,” I ask only that people make content warnings clear and do so BEFORE the point of purchase, ‘cause some of us are just

The other content warning at the beginning of the game, incidentally, is about getting text messages from your character’s mom. It gives you the option to turn them off entirely if you’re not up for that for whatever reason. (There are, of course, many possible reasons.) I initially sort of winced my way past the

I imagine some people backing it weren’t happy when they realized this content was a part of the game but what else were the devs supposed to do? Check in with every backer before they made any decision?

There’s also the “I Kickstarted this expecting a fun romp and didn’t discover there would be a stalking plotline until the game got delivered and that content warning popped up” factor.

Yeah, I feel absolutely lousy about that. And if nothing else, it’s one for my ever-lengthening list of reasons to STOP NAMING FICTIONAL CHARACTERS AFTER REAL PEOPLE FFS.

Yeah — Wipeout Omega Collection is fantastic in VR. (And, as it happens, I’m far better at the game with the headset on. The perspective really helps with judging distance and appropriate reactions to what’s going on on the track.)

I remember trying out PlayStation Home when it was new (yes, I know, it was an odd time) and I made a female avatar that looked more or less like me. The very first thing anyone said to me when I walked into a public space with it was “I want to bend you over and fuck you up the ass.”

Yeah, that came uncomfortably to mind for me right quick.

Nice to know he’s keeping up with the news around here, anyway:

A: I’m a woman, B: I’m an editor, and C: this site makes me very tired sometimes, so nah.

(it was oddly freeing)

I completely nuked my Blizzard account (as in, my entire gaming and purchase history is gone), so, uh...

Gotta tell you, it took me about 30 seconds to figure out where “The Kick-Ass Shit Women” was actually going.

Yeah: the instant I heard their past credits, I was ON BOARD. And the whole vibe of their intro video was great.

My heart dropped through the floor when I saw that.

COVID didn’t help. My sense of time over the last few years is hopelessly broken.

I want to believe this and take it at face value, and yet there’s still a voice in the back of my head bleakly saying, “The woman who died didn’t get an exit interview.”

Yeah — I read up on the second game quite a bit, and although I decided I was not in the right headspace to play it, I was really impressed by everything I saw about the accessibility & difficulty settings. They clearly made a huge effort there and I hope more developers take notes.

Same problem here. *sigh*

Absolutely. I mean, everything about The New War looks AMAZING. I’m not surprised that cross play and cross save got that kind of response, though.
