At the moment I'm typing this, Botanicula is on the Steam sale for <3 dollars, by which I mean both "less than three dollars" and "omg heart!" because, well, it looks awesome and it's LESS THAN THREE DOLLARS. Downloading now, and thanks for the tip.

My basic reaction to trying to read this:
Fiction in journalism. They're both bad, but while plagiarism causes professional damage to the people involved, fiction does both that AND causes harm to everyone it's about, and everyone who reads it, believes it, and makes decisions/judgments accordingly.
On behalf of fanfic writers everywhere… I'm going to unload a pet peeve on you here.
I kind of forgot Time on purpose. ;) But yes.
Psst:
My point exactly. ;)
I think I speak for all women when I say I'm GLAD that that combination is almost impossible.
I saw that note about The Night Circus and went a little bit flaily-hands. I hope they do it right. A movie of that book has so much potential to be utterly visually GORGEOUS.

Sigh. Speaking as someone in a city (Seattle) that put all sorts of money and fuss into designing a distinctive new library a few years ago — which started showing its problems in really short order — I'm desperately weary of libraries that are more about the architect's ego than actual user functionality. This one…

Can't tell you how tickled I was to see the DoT screencap. LucasArts' disclaimer in the manual about historical accuracy, or their COMPLETE lack thereof (basically, "don't tell anyone this was true or we're all going to look silly"), was truly classic.
Technical issue I'm not sure how to work around: I'm on a fast connection and a current browser, but pages like this with a lot of embedded YouTube clips still bring Firefox to a crashing halt for me almost every time. Sometimes I have to wait for ages for the page to load enough to be able to scroll (or do…
Crystal Skull actually contains a shout-out to one of the plotlines of Young Indy, which tells me the movies consider the TV series to be canon. On the other hand, the old-Indy segments of the TV show have been completely edited out of subsequent re-releases, like the DVD sets that came out a year or two ago. (The…
