You have no idea how apt that message is, being as my best friend is called Joe and he’s really struggling right now. Another creative that is drowning in talent, literally. A curse and our only salvation.

I also relate to everything you said and there are some particular sentences that I really appreciate and nailed the idea, especially “constant background radiation of utilitarianism”, which is just perfect.

I’ve spent the worst part of 33 years trying to escape the place my parents were reckless enough to birth me into. How they expected me to ever truly achieve anything, in this place under a system and with a society so broken that it no longer functions much at all, I do not know. They have expected much from me, some

Polygon also has comments enabled on these articles. Something The Verge does not. I think, they think Polygon can get away with things the main site can’t. As if these people don’t take Polygon seriously, or know about it at all.

I agree. I’ve followed them since then still, as I appreciate what they can offer over other sites. But I retain a healthy distance.

Thank you, for that utterly bizarro experience I can now no longer forget.

Oh ffs. Is nothing sacred anymore? I’ve been holding that place up as a shining beacon of an example of quality, freedom of speech and integrity.

I understand both sides.

I’m the absolute first to call Patricia out, but in her defence, this site was in a (not so) slow decline and a bit of a depressive fugue and since she joined, the site is more alive and critical than it has been in years. I’m impressed honestly, and even though I’ve said some kind of shameful and nasty stuff to her

I’ve mentioned before and elsewhere, that once upon a time Ben Kuchera wrote an article about Alien Isolation, the title was something along the lines of “Do not preorder Alien Isolation”. The article was similarly specific and harsh. I called them out, with a few colourful words for the author (who’s been caught up

Same. Called out a genuinely shitty article by a shitty author (albeit with some colourful language admittedly) and attracted the ire of the Polygon army. Before bringing the ban hammer down, they had a fair few choice words. Best part of it all? They changed the article and title to what I said they should have been

Generally, on hot topics that might piss off some overlord (Activision, CCP) they disable them. I’m surprised they haven’t, but may in future, disable on Apple articles.

Surprisingly, he’s not in Epstien’s little black book. Maybe he’s small time in comparison.

Generally, when it’s about something that absolutely requires discourse, they turn them off. It’s like they know people will discuss the target of the material and they don’t want to allow it.

I’ve been miffed by the disabling of the comments on the Activision articles at The Verge for a while now. I knew something was going on though. Yeah, turns out it’s exactly what you would guess it is but would get you laughed out of the comments sections over there as a conspiracy.

CASEY WASSERMAN

Have you seen the shit they’re doing with Microsoft Edge?

What a fucking power move.

I haven’t played in what must be coming on a year now. That’s in part thanks to the cheaters, as well as the general malaise that infects you after playing too long. It’s grim dark and the cheaters cheapen the whole experience.

I’m feeling generous today, so I’ll help you out a little:
