(Un)fortunately, this could easily be just down to “cache poisoning”, meaning the only thing compromised was where they’re pulling their data from, not anything remotely inside the platform.
We’re not even living on the same planet let alone reading from the same book.
What a bizarro and irrelevant comparison. Not just because most gaming laptops are tacky, overpriced and/or underpowered tat, but this is also a completey and utterly different class of device. This is handheld gaming, not portable computing. Yet that’s exactly what it can also be. Say we take you at your word, go spec…
That’s what I thought, twice. The sad fact is that even then, they use such extreme adhesive that the only safe conclusion is that they fully intend for you to break it and do everything they can to actively punish you for opening your own hardware up to the point of sabotaging said hardware.
We at least know now that we’re dealing with a similar situation as with other hacks, such as the Capcom one. In so much as this stuff was left on server somewhere presumably largely unprotected for anyone to access.
I mean, have you checked the prices? If you went for the one with less storage solely for a cheaper price, I don’t know what to tell you. The pricing is incredible, but the corners you choose to cut are on you. Buying an SSD to replace the internal one at that price is bonkers. You’re just being obtuse at that point.
You ever opened a MacBook and tried to remove the battery? I have, twice. Both times it didn’t go well. It’s like a jet engine if you pierce it. The flame plus the toxic smoke make this hard to recommend if the battery is glued in or you could easily slip with tools. Though MacBooks are known for trying every trick in…
Let me guess, you’re a fan.
“Additionally, full credit card numbers are not stored by Twitch, so full credit card numbers were not exposed.”
My thoughts exactly. At the same time, they also discovered water is wet. So that’s fun.
I hate to be the one to break it to you…
I can see immediately you’re glossing over Jinnytty, both a woman and POC.
I mean, even without that, this person is risking serious prison time doing this. Add to that the potential leaking of any personal data, streamers or otherwise, and their moral high ground argument just won’t hold up. They’ll have no one really on their side and Amazon’s endless bankroll against them. I’d say they…
Yeah, I don’t actually expect that the source of those tools leaked, rather the tools themselves. So, they’re technically still out in the wild, which is more than we could say before, but it’s not the nail in the coffin it might seem.
We have yet to see the full leak, it stands to reason that if they have the paper trail, they may have more. Given the hackers moral soundings though, I would imagine they only want to damage Twitch’s reputation and business rather than endanger streamers and viewers. In the end though, at some point doing one is…
Yeah, seeing others suggesting this. Hard to say without some confirmation. We’ve seen companies literally dump stuff on an unprotected server without thought. Given just how much leaked though, it’s hard to imagine this came from anywhere but inside and boy, they must have really done this person dirty.
Er…
At the company that allowed employees access to streamer and user data, who then used it to stalk and leaked it? You put too much faith in Twitch. These companies don’t put anything in place until something happens to force them.
