Let’s hear more about how you think racism was involved, considering both players would be considered “black” in 1950's America.

When has a woman lost a tennis match to a man because she was called for her outbursts and the man was not called for his?

I missed the part where Serena played against a man who acted just as boorishly as she did but didn’t get called for it.

Holy crap, is there a way in Kinja for me to just not see Chris Thompson’s stories ever again?

“Consistent rules culture.” Ok, which do you want at the Slams: best-of-5 for the women, or best-of-3 for the men? No on-court coaching allowed at WTA events, or allow that for ATP events also?

I’ve got a 6 plus approaching 3 years old. My “new” battery is already a year old - where does the time go?! So I’ll be cracking it open again soon to refresh the battery...

do you think Osaka’s coach, who was formerly Williams’s hitting partner, warned Naomi if she started winning that Serena would pitch a fit to try and intimidate her and get the crowd ginned up

By felicia.

But Men doesn’t apply, because Serena was playing against a cooler-headed woman.

Quick picking on Donald Young, yo. He’s already been penalized for yelling Son Of A Biscuit during a match, how much blood do you need?

Yes, there was differential treatment. Two players were on the court, one was keeping her cool and playing the match of her life. The other was melting down because she was getting her ass kicked.

This is great advice! I wish someone had told it to my team’s parents when I was a volunteer soccer coach!

Can you imagine LeBron saying, “no, I didn’t commit that foul” and expecting the foul to be wiped off the score sheet?

It was sexist because when Serena lost, they handed the trophy to a man, right?

You must not be watching much tennis. Because it happens. Most players are smart enough to stop when it reaches a point penalty, because a game penalty is costly.

Calling him a “thief” is saying he cheated for Osaka. “That was a bad call” is one thing, saying the ref is working for your opponent is over the line. It’ll get you ejected in other pro sports.

I like how they contrived the whole thing so a white woman could win.

You left off the part that Serena did what her coach signaled her to do, and it worked. He signaled to go in, she did, and put Osaka in a spot of bother.

She’s clearly not doing well.

Watch what Patrick did, and also try to square his signal with “he was giving me a thumbs-up.
