To clarify, I do realize that many (and especially older) American history books often read like Columbus discovered the Americas, not for Spain, but more generally. I realize they tend to ignore pre-Columbian history of the Americas (both its earliest settlers and its various discoverers) and completely omit the

“if natives built a boat and decided to sail and ended up in Europe.. you would be OK with history books claiming those “natives” discovered Europe?”

Yes - just like I discover new music on Spotify. I’m discovering it for myself. I am not the first to discover it, but it’s a discovery. Columbus discovered new lands for

To be fair, more happens in a single episode of Rick & Morty than entire seasons of many shows. The plot pacing is manic.

Rick’s body dies in the S3 opener but his mind is transferred to another Rick’s body. So... same Rick for all intents and purposes I guess.

Kinja comments are messed up. Putting reply under (same) wrong comment regardless of who I reply to. Wish I could just delete this instead of editing...

I’m so confused. Can’t you also just go to any phone directory site, people lookup site, or your area’s white pages to get almost anyone’s address and phone number from just their name?

“When traveling to possibly bed bug-contaminated locations—like, say, that sketchy-seeming hotel”
Bed bugs do not discriminate by class or even cleanliness (though regular vacuuming and linen washing helps, they won’t necessarily prevent an infestation). You can easily pickup bed bugs at 5 star hotels. Treat any bed

In the 50s people didn’t graduate high school till their mid 20s.

You can’t add HBO to the student plan, but you can sign up for HBO Now with a student discount separately - at less than Hulu normally charges.

Yes, MDMA can cause brain damage. But the exposure here is short enough that it is probably safe. In theory you might be able to take fewer anti-anxiety drugs (which also have long term risks to the brain) if this proves effective.

“Cats and dogs have also adapted to scrounging food from our plates and our garbage dumps, so it makes sense that their diets wouldn’t be the same as their wild relatives. [...] Dogs and cats can digest grains”

I didn’t realize the “Tab Audio Muting UI Control” was still “experimental”. I’ve been using it for so long and can’t imagine using Chrome without it. Even just being able to identify which of my 3,000 tabs is responsible for making noise is helpful.

Depending on which one you saw, it was either an annular or partial eclipse. Save for yesterday, the last time a total eclipse graced the lands of the United States was in 1979 in the northwest and 1970 in the southeast.

Long term problem is there will always be qualifiers to denote a particular style and/or utility. So even if we come up with a more universal term, like say, accessory bag, if there is a style mainly used by one gender that new term will, like purses did, become gendered again. No different than how we have to come up

Escape rooms are a new phenomenon in the United States, having only taken off in the last 3 years. The first permanent one didn’t open in the States till 2013.

Also, which generation is this for? I’m guessing Lifehacker has a very narrow appeal when it comes to age demographics?

Not the case - the creator named it after Soylent from the book which Soylent Green was loosely based on. In the book, the foodstuff is made of soy and lentils. Soylent’s young creator wasn’t familiar with the movie adaptation in which the Green variety was made from people.
