It isn't silly at all. Even if you mess with the settings it's still not ideal. For starters, the lighting is way too bright and blue shifted compared to your living room. You can't really get an idea of actual black levels under real world conditions unless, like the author points out, the store offers a viewing room…
Did the exact same thing (probably 20 hours of review/forum/ezine reading) and ended up with a Panasonic VIERA TC-P55ST50. Lot of time to find the right set within my budget but it was worth it. Ended up getting it on Amazon for a third of the price of my last 1080p set (a Sony XBR model) and 6 months later now it…
The best TV I've owned was one I bought unseen. I'd always look to reviews and keep them in mind at the local big box store. This time though, I went strictly with reviews (forums, amazon, and ezines), found the best one for my budget, then shopped around for the best price. It was Amazon. Arrived 2 days later. Have…
I'm using ios7 right now. The interface still needs a lot of refinement, but I like it a lot already. The flat design trend is really a reaction to nearly a decade of web 2.0 style interfaces (gradients/depth, shadows, and gloss) that now feel firmly dated with the oughts. It's flat now, yes, but very different from…
What I mean is, the shelves don't have to serve a purpose really other than being aesthetically pleasing to someone- just like the art people tend to hand in their homes. Sometimes it's just nice to look at, and there are as many different tastes in art as there are pieces to hang... er... probably more pieces to hang…
My understanding (no pun intended) is that a standing desk is not for the purpose of relieving or avoiding RSI, but instead for metabolism, helping prevent diabestes and blood clots, back pain for some people, and making it easier to move your body about and stretch regularly.
Do you not have any art on the walls of your home?
After using LastPass for years, I decided to give 1Password a try. Did it for a year and recently returned to LastPass. It's pretty, but that doesn't matter when it's such an inconvenience compared to LastPass. Accessing my stuff when I'm in Windows, syncing across multiple computers, and auto-logins are not worth…
I think it looks fantastic. This is skeuomorphism done right.
I used to love iTunes. Last major update however brought with it serious performance issues for large libraries. It's almost unusable now- and yes I've disabled Genius and the extra search functions. I have a powerhouse of a system but iTunes spends about half its time showcasing the OS X spinning beach-ball of death.
I only know of a Mac equivalent: http://snosrap.com/wiiscale/
I use a chat app that integrates SMS (well, for most of my friends) into it! Good ol' Messages on OS X & iMessage on iOS

Thanks for that :-)
They both work. You use a big funnel to put the ingredients in the bottle; not messy at all. If you don't have a bowl with pour-spout, this is the way to go. It gets you by more than fine with a little bit more work, but with less mess. The downside is a lot of batter will remain stuck in the bottle, and cleaning said…
My god! That sounds like child abuse! (i was a lazy child)
That's fair on the surface.
Windows is like an open floorplan house. You can put whatever furniture you want in there and come up with your own ways to make the space work for your lifestyle. You can take down a wall and break the plumbing; it's yours to turn to shit or fix it up. Unfortunately your back door doesn't…
Are you looking strictly at the operating systems? Or the operating system ecosystems as a whole? Because when it comes to Windows and Mac, these are vastly different. Most people aren't qualified to talk about the operating systems outside of
A: the software they have on it
B: the user experience
