I think the biggest issue is that people didn’t understand what Sea of Thieves was going for. They were creating a sandbox within which players would create their own stories but most people seemed to want a progression based rpg lite.

Games as a Service is more or less the new wave in larger game development, because of the successes of other live-service games like Fortnite. There’s value in creating ongoing games, rather than one-and-done projects, so that’s why publishers/developers are moving to that model. It’s funny you mention Kickstarter…

The keyword is "now". The game /was/ bare bones at launch, but now they've added plenty of stuff to do and the game is in a really good state. 

I have had two Elite controllers break in that exact same manner. Both around the 6th month mark. Most of my friends who have had the controllers for more than 6 months have also run into this issue. I am still shocked that Microsoft has not addressed it whatsoever.

PLEASE BRING MORE ATTENTION TO THIS.

This is a huge problem with the Elite controllers. I have had the shoulder buttons break on 3 of them. Microsoft replaced one but it happened again a few months later. I really love my Elite but for the money the build quality needs to be improved or the warranty needs to be extended past 12 months.
