Abandoned the thread? I posted that at 10pm last night, went to sleep shortly thereafter, and just finished a 12-hour work day. I'll get back to you when I have some time - perhaps later this evening - but the crux of my eventual response can be found in what you've just written: Borrowing is not copying.

It's a little disconcerting how gleeful everyone is that they can download something without paying for it and have no consequences. I run a community art school and am relieved that the work created by our students can't be so easily copied and distributed without compensation and without their consent.

Did you even read the article? It quite clearly lays out the reasons this goes against what they've previously said they would do. It's pointless for me to restate what is already clearly explained, and if you don't see what's disconcerting about a company being able to cross reference multiple databases of

So above you said: "How is this evil?" Now it's: "I won't refute your argument that it's bad, but you're an idiot for not expecting it." Here's to you being a stereotypical internet commenter!

Because not everyone wants everything they email, search for, look at (youtube), or talk about with friends associated with their name and used for advertising. It's not really that hard to understand, and the problem is they're doing this after so many users are entrenched and heavily rely on their services, and

Ohhhh, they're reiterating their pledge! Well, surely nothing could ever go wrong.

Yes. They'll associate everything you write or receive in your gmail account with everything you search for and watch on youtube. If you're an android user, they'll know where you are and where you like to go. Google+ users can look forward to all of their relationships (broken down into handy circles for clarity)

Not sure why you brought up market share. Apple's market cap was almost twice that of Samsung Group (yes, Group, not just Electronics) at various points this year. And as for whether those articles were about just North America, well you don't even have to click since it's right there in the url:

The next (insufferable) Samsung ad practically writes itself.

The same thing happened with me and the 4s. I wanted to move to WP7 and my upgrade date was all the way back in May. I like the interface, and I'm quite fond of MS Office products (and my work life uses them constantly), so I stuck with an old iPhone 3g expecting some great new Mango-infused hardware to show up. I

"My wife's 3GS is slower than poop ..."

It's not fair that you do that to the English language.

Your first comment: "I've never seen an iPad in public either."

So the company that made your device left it to you to make it function properly? And you're proud of that? While simultaneously calling iOS users morons?

So you can take over as head douche?

I don't think you can be a "HUGE Dylan fan" and say that he should have stopped touring in 1968 - almost a decade before the '75-'76 Rolling Thunder Revue.

"Mean," as in, writing a blog post about someone you went out with in which you ridicule them in front of millions for being a geek, and (though it contributes nothing to the value of the post) even use their real name? If you're going to threaten to de-star or ban people for being mean, perhaps you should start with

Problem with premise. NYC's population growth over the last decade was about 2%. The rest of the country was about 10%. Most growth has occurred in the south and west.

I can't imagine what would motivate you to post this and include a photo. It is only tangentially related to technology and I can only assume it's been placed here for the shock factor. I've been annoyed by this site since the redesign and rarely stop in anymore, but I think this is going to be it. In the future,
