I’ve been reading this site since I was around 13. I’m now 22. Lurked for a lot of it, but I feel like I’ve grown with the AV Club. Many of my favorite shows and movies, from my most formative years and beyond, I watched because of articles or recommendations from the commentariat.

That Raccoon was way to ok with engaging in a Sisyphean battle with an endlessly morphing opponent. It’s admirable.

Immediately not on board with this article because Valerian and the City of a Thousand Miscastings was written like warmed-over dogshit and deserved, if anything, worse than it got.

I really like everything about the Pixel 2 except the lack of a headphone jack which is a deal breaker for me. Currently I have a pixel that I got from Fi when my 6P’s battery crapped out but I guess I’ll have to trade up relatively soon.

Username/Avatar checks out.

I’ll stick up for Curse of the Were-Rabbit. That movie is legitimately delightful and funny, if a little bloated.

I was thinking the same thing. There’s so many shows that the AV Club should review, but doesn’t, that it seems weird that it’s devoting reviews to something that isn’t good but doesn’t even seem to be entertainingly bad.

I can’t say I ever expected to see him genital-less and preparing to enter Chris Meloni while “Mars - The Bringer Of War” blares in the background, but wow is Patrick Fischler great in this.

Personally, though I enjoyed Westworld, I thought it also didn’t have enough good character work to deal with the immensely slow pace. By the end I just wasn’t particularly invested in anyone. Still, I think both shows have a chance at a very good second season.

What an unprovoked series of attacks on Pitbull, America’s happiest C- rapper.

Hey Sean, just saying: This was a really nice piece of writing. Glad you did it.

The Ravi-Peyton thing was real rough. I like that Peyton is a regular, but I also don’t think the show knows what to do with her as a regular. D&D ep was gold, but the main story of the season just didn’t work that well for me. Felt a little rushed and a little haphazard. It was still tons of fun though, no doubt.

Mine would be Difficult People and Trial and Error for comedies; both are delightful. For Dramas I’d put Hap and Leonard, which I discovered this year and had a fantastically improved second season, and Agents of Shield because I don’t think I enjoyed any show more. Agents of Shield has completed the transition from

My guess is that partially had to do with the Alasdair Wilkins factor.

I do love iZombie, but I feel like this season was a little bit of a step down. A small step. Like from an A to a B. But a step.

Holy Shit, a Dowd B+. If I wasn’t hyped before...

Eh, I don’t know. Logan and Deadpool made a LOT of money and were pretty critically praised. My guess is they’ll keep that/those types of movies going in it’s/their own sphere.

I like to imagine that scene but Trump is the A-wing pilot and the Star Destroyer is American credibility.

There are a few superhero scores that I still enjoy (mostly from Henry Jackman or Brian Tyler. Junkie XL’s wasn’t half-bad either.) but even in them there’s only one or two standout tracks and they rarely work as a coherent whole.
