The dozens of forum posts on the issue are very real, as is the NHTSA investigation. In this case, Niedermeyer was simply reporting.

The title to this makes no sense.

I definitely don’t mean to argue, I like hearing another take on this. Please don’t think I’m only here to be disagreeable. In counterpoints to what you’ve said:

Orrrr buy the Fiat and stop worrying about resale - since you intend to keep them and drive the piss outta them like you’re supposed to.

You would have thought that the guy designing the car would have put a cooling system that actually worked with the car it was installed in. For a $100k+ vehicle, you’d think they would have tested it.

The windshield cost might come down with time, but considering the massive back log of orders they already seem to have, and their track record of being unable to meet quality and demand expectations, I doubt it will happen for at least a few years. And it just strikes me as odd that a car they market as “affordable”

If GM did it there would be a congressional hearing and the NHTSA would be involved.

My car has a “panoramic sunroof” (previous owner added the option, don’t judge me). I keep it closed because 1. opening it means the sun almost certainly glares into the eyes of backseat passengers and 2. it takes a laughably long time to open/close. Why not just offer a regular sunroof option?

I get the feeling a lot of what they do involves not thinking things through.

That Tesla didn’t think that through says a lot.

Definitely. My last car had a sunroof and I kept the shade closed most of the time as well.

And yet late at the same time.

I’ve seen about a dozen of these on the road, and park next to one on occasion, and I haven’t even noticed the giant windshield. It can’t be that gorgeous.

There’s a reason everyone I know with a sunroof keeps the shade closed 95% of the time.

Actually you have that backward. Anyone else it would be "Stupid shit like this is why GM should have been left to go bankrupt, what moron approved this?!", but with Tesla it's "OMG, Lord Elon Stark and his gloriously awesome windshield are showing the Big 3 how it's done!"

I think you have that wrong.

You know why right? Because their fans proclaim Tesla’s are PERFECT and if you don’t like it you must DIE!

It’s features like this that makes me wonder if companies actually real world test their vehicles. One look at it and you can tell it will be problematic. But the Tesla sheep are just like isheep...they don’t care.

Spider is a name thats been used for many convertibles over the years. It’s got heritage.

So you’re telling me that the regular 124 Spider is stiffer than the Miata, less comfortable than the Miata, and it understeers more than the Miata. And this is better how?
