Futurama - "Meanwhile". An excellent series finale. The most touching moment of the year was the montage of Fry and Leela getting a well-deserved happy ending set to Jo Stafford's "No Other Love". Not ashamed to admit I teared up a little.

That joke worked so much better as a non-sequitor.

I had "The Empire Strikes Back" spoiled for me by my Uncle Rick, who was exiting the theater as my father and I waited in line outside. It was exactly like the Simpsons episode. My Uncle Rick later drank himself to death, so I guess he got what he deserved.

The greatest television finale of all time is "Flip", the final episode of "The Larry Sanders Show". The whole thing is touching and fantastic, but all it really needs is that Tom Petty joke.
