You’re assumptions are wildly incorrect. Although I understand the sticker shock by those people who don’t own Toyota trucks it’s clear you don’t know the market on these trucks. The FJ Cruiser has one of the highest resale values of all cars made. 2012's+ with the Special Edition packages still sell for around the

“That site should more rightfully be called Bring a Trailer Full of Money.” - Very accurate comment.

Lexus-certified GS350 Fsport is the right answer this time guys.

You’re not accounting for the Seattle hipster tax. For where this RAV lives, I don’t think he’s too far off on price. In middle American this would be a 3K or less car.

I don’t know if “hicks” can afford a Lexus and then 20K of equipment on top of that for an overlanding hobby. You’re looking at an unfortunate accident here. Not some “hick” yeeting a rust bucket.

My first car was a 1978 Chevy Blazer with the 400 c.i. V8. It was magnificent in fuel sucking, off-road prowess, spacious back seat, and removable top. If I ever found that truck again, I would profusely apologize to it in between the tears of joy. Then I’d restore it to its former glory and let it live out it days in

I understand this. However, depending on the dealership and the integrity of the service department and what you’re taking the car in for, you might not be doing much better at the dealership. Some are not above having bad techs and “upselling” like the sleazy garage down the street will.

A small lift or leveling kit and larger AT tires goes a long ways in the looks department on a 4th Gen. Also, if you consider it on paper (torsen diff, AWD + 4x4, basically same 4.0 V6 on the 5th) then you have love at first sight.

I recommend you follow this need. Only amazing experiences will come out of it!

This buyer is the hero Jalopnik deserves in the “Which car should I buy” column series. It needs a follow up with the buyer in 6-8 months for sure.

Yes x 1,000,000. You want to become a market leader? Putting the 2.5 turbo in the AWD will make you the market leader.

Who gives a crap about modern safety standards and dealing with the never ending chain of repairs on a 3K beater when I can save money?!?!

You’re not wrong to still be mad for this.

Holy bad comment batman! Peak car in conjunction with Uber, Tesla, raising prices on cars maaayyyyy have played a part here. Last time I checked, interest rates have been a great way to stabilizing the housing market which has been on a tear over the past few years. Trump has made just a feeew comments about the fed

In my mind the value here is the lack of alternatives. I can’t think of any other true 4x4 camper with cab egress that comes even close to this. The Jeep Habitat is a comparable but at 5X+ the cost.

My prediction is this will become the greatest off-road RV platform off all time. Sportsmobile meets Winneabago. The only question is who is going to be the first to build the bolt on camper shell first and charge crazy dollars.

Somehow, I approve of this relationship. Worse couplings have been done.

No reason to wander outside the Toyota family. 4th Gen 4runners with the V8 can tow up to 7K lbs no problem. It can also pull double duty when you get the bug to tackle some of those Colorado 4x4 trails.

4th Gen 4Runners are a hidden gem in my book. Plenty of power, perfect size/utility, reliable, roll-down back window, and one small lift and tire upgrade away from an enormous amount of off-road fun. Imagine the kids squealing from the back seat “Dad is the fun parent!!!” while driving on a mountain trail to do some

Jalopnik needs to offer this man a job immediately! He is clearly an entertainer in the written form and also has emotional connections to shit boxes.
