Jesse’s drugged nonsense talk in the cold open, followed by his wild, blind shooting, is just the latest example of how this show keeps the violence surprising and hilarious.

It doesn’t take a genius to play into America’s deep hatred and dismissal of women. It just takes a lack of character and shame. Presto — you too can be a key player in the misogyny economy!
Since filming is paused, may I make some key suggestions?
I like Last Days (and Gerry and Elephant from that same period of Van Sant) but it’s more of a fictionalized biopic about a guy who is kinda Kurt Cobain but not exactly.
24 Hour Party People is perhaps the finest example of a music biopic. But Social Network is probably the one I would think of first as a gold-star version of the genre.
How is Tang not on this list. Powdered “nutrition” with so much sugar it could make your teeth hurt. And with a cloying aftertaste that could only be described as freeze-dried space-age.
Nutri Grain and Snackwells epitomized the early/mid 90s notion of “healthy” food. They either cut out fat or just added fruit (along with loads of sugar) and said “hey, this is a nutritious treat.” Honestly, I’d bet a Snickers is healthier than a Nutri Grain.
My favorite cracker. I couldn’t believe they were gone.
Great singer, good dude. For a famous crooner he had a seriously gentle vibe. Very little swagger, just a kind, low-key personality.
Maybe two or three years from now we will view this as the end of the reign of comic book movies and the rise of general IP films. It had to end sometime. That doesn’t mean superheroes will go away or that good or even great superhero films won’t be made but it’s clear a certain kind of era is over. Barbie and much…
Shout out to Hathaway and Robbie for looping in interesting, indie-bred directors for their versions of Barbie. Have to say I’m perplexed that anyone would be confused about what Schumer brings to the table, performance and attitude-wise. I mean, she’s Amy Schumer. You don’t hire her to be a pretty little thing. You…
Can you maybe send a kid or two to boarding school optimize your streaming capacity? #dadtips
The bombings won’t be shown, apparently; Nolan is keeping the film tight to its subject’s POV (obviously, Oppenheimer did not see the bombings). However, its impact is said to be addressed. Also, I think it’s smart on a sheer level of respect. It’s one thing to marvel at special effects illustrating the power of this…
Straight up just run nonstop Murder She Wrote
Soundtrack is fantastic. So is the soundtrack for Eastbound and Down, which also pulled out a lot of more obscure southern sounds.
It was super meta -- I couldn’t help thinking “how much did they tell DMX’s estate about this scene?”
There is no better Chekov’s gun than the Redeemer. Cannot wait to see what it inevitably crushes.
I have an even bigger issue with the need for “redeeming” characters in the first place. Walter White is not a redeeming character but you understand his journey, which is incredibly engrossing to follow. The Gemstones similarly are filled with contradictions — they are hard to love but easy to watch. The only hard…
Righteous Gemstones is the only show, aside from Barry, that know how to stage violence in all its awkward, sudden and banal magnificence. That closing scene was just so perfectly executed. Violence is a dumb, horrific thing, and it takes great photography, direction and acting to make that happen.
The actor was spot on for a young Jesse but the age fudging for all of the siblings felt a bit off. I forgive it because everyone’s performances were truly great.
