This is changing next year. You’ll be able to assign the tax credit to the dealership and it will end up effectively being a point of sale rebate.

I was thinking the exact same thing. For $70K, you get a slightly underpowered car on an ordinary platform shared with mostly non-luxury vehicles. Meanwhile, for another $2,500, I can buy an X5 with a turbo-6, more electric range, 483 hp, and on a luxury car-only, sporty platform. I can’t help but think the RX will…
We are Farmers, and we’re dun-duh-duh-dun-dun-done-done-done insuring in Florida.
Just let me have this.
Reposting this to a WRX owner’s group on FB and saying, “It’s about time” just to feel something.
Apple supports using the car key over UWB (same as AirTag), so on BMWs you don’t have to pull the phone out unless the battery is dead and thus can only do NFC. The UWB is also more secure than your key fob as it allows better triangulation to confirm your key is physically present and not a relay attack.
The BMW implementation does not require you to pull the iPhone out from your pockets and the UWB is more secure than your actual key fob. You can even use the NFC (tap) version with a dead phone/watch.
The promised benefits are definitely doable. Have a Pacifica Hybrid that just went almost 2,700 miles between fill ups, doing the daily school run (about 30 mi. daily) and daytime errands. Plug it in every night and during the day (WFH). Gets about the promised electric range (26-31 mi vs. 30 mi rating, usually on the…
I feel your pain but my advice if you have three kids is still to get the bench seat. Of course, I’ll admit that their age range is a major factor in this decision. Mine are all in school now and only two booster seats. With three kids, there are times where we might all be in the car and still need to load something…
Clearly, Ford is going to have to adjust the pricing of the Mach E if they want to sell a lot of them. Apples-to-apples, the Mach E is now $18k+ more expensive than a Model Y (Long Range, AWD versions of each). They can sell some at that gap, and it has some pros (fit/finish), but also some substantial cons (charge…
If it’s hot out, AC can still find cold to pump. “Freezing” is relative. Just like 115 F is “Cold” to a 200 F coolant loop. Even if it’s very cold (for humans) outside, there is still lots of heat, relatively speaking. Heat pumps lose efficiency as temperature drops but it doesn’t go away completely. My home heat pump…
Oh man, butthurt Tesla owner has entered the chat.

Since the average price of a new car is $50,000 how out of touch with vehicle prices are you if you think $30,000 is out of reach for most people?
TLDR:
The Ford Crown Victoria has a similar footprint (actually a foot longer) to an Explorer (212" x 77" x 57" compared to 199" x 79" x 70") and the weight isn’t that different either (4,100 lbs compared to 4,600 lbs). This is more of a training and policy issue than what vehicle is being used.
That’s Honda for you. I used to own 2017 CR-V and it too had the infotainment screen with a ginormous bezel and a lone volume knob.
It is kind of hanging out in no-man’s land isn’t it!
This feels like a Far Side Cartoon. I can already imagine it - some goofy looking guy sitting in his room, surrounded by piles of old mirrors, bottles, lightbulbs and windows. The caption reading:
