I think the far likelier reason is that they just haven’t decided where production will take place which is why their announcement leaves more questions than answers.

For real! Kia’s Cadenza is brand new, Toyota’s next-gen Avalon is making its debut in a few weeks, the Impala is decent.... I want a new Taurus SHO!
I’m trying to see it that way. I am a VW fanboy and agree that it has potential but the rear is just such a blatant rip off of the current pre-refresh Sonata and side profile looks vaguely Ford-ish. My expectations are low.
If you want a sneak peak at the Jetta...
That’s what is underneath the hubcaps? Surely it cannot be because those wheels look great.
I feel like you just got this car! That sucks but at least the new Accords are coolio.
Gotta disagree with you there. I grew up in the third row of a Suburban that we used to tow our 30' camper. Plenty of room for the 7 of us plus our luggage to boot. Also made the trip from FL to NC yearly and did it better than anything I can think of. Love that big ol’ beast.
I had a four-door Golf TDI and am now rocking a two-door GTI and man, do I wish it were also a four-door. Like others have said, the doors are comically long! It also doesn’t have as satisfying as a thunk as the four-door has when you close the doors. Not to mention it’s less practical and I don’t think necessarily…
It’s hard to see cuz it’s really tiny. It resides in the cut line between the hood and the front fender.
That does not apply to their S/RS lineup if I’m not mistaken.
Isn’t this where all those illegal Volkswagen TDIs are at too?
Ford hears you loud and clear
there is no way I’d consider making my first purchase from them my most expensive new car purchase to date
Yeah me too and I currently own a GTI. It just seems like the perfect car to sit in between the GTI and Golf R with juuuuust the right amount of boy racer.
Yeah but with the N powertrain which obviously, Hyundai is not going to give us.
No way, they’re saving that for the inevitable Ford Explorer-based crossover.
Yesssssssss agreed! The Veolster is just too much. Give me the clean look of the i30N is pastel blue please Hyundai!
Yeah duh but it hasn’t seen a resurgence in popularity until very recently.

It already came out and is called the CX-4 and is sold only in China and you know what? It looks acceptable enough. I do think it lost some of its wagon-ness though in transition from concept to production.
