This is exactly what I was thinking. Compare the WRX concept to the WRX we have.

If it were any other car company I would say yes but because it is Mazda i would say maybe not as crazy as you think. They know they need to sell a good number of these and they know that some of their most loyal customers were/are RX7 owners. In order to keep it that way, they can’t lose the plot by making this car

Rotaries are narrow but somewhat long(think I6 vs V8). I’m thinking this has a 3 rotor under the hood and the hood is so long so the engine can be completely behind the front axle.

That is such a nicely proportioned car. It is like the best bits of the FD RX7, the last gen Cosmo and the RX8 all put together into one extremely sexy concept. Insert obligatory shut up and take my money gif.

That is one big ass bird that can haul some serious ass.

I think if you wanted to get more power out of a skyactiv motor you would need to completely build the motor. But i think the results of a completely built(lower comp pistons, stronger rods, turbo, etc.) would lead to a very robust and very powerful engine based on the fact that it was designed from the factory to

Basically my attitude to this whole situation. Say all you want, I’ll be enjoying my car because it is special and because I appreciate that other people took the time to design and manufacture my car because they are as passionate as me about the rotary.

Awesome user name. Also thank you for saying what I’ve been screaming at my computer screen progressively louder as I read more and more comments.

Two words: Material Science. The advances in material science since the last clean sheet rotary design is absolutely insane.

You are ignoring the huge difference between GM and Mazda. GM has several orders of magnitude more R&D money than Mazda to throw at engine development and the rotary, unlike the small block, will not work as anything other than a sports car engine...at least not very well. Even the renesis wasn’t very new despite

Because if you want a corvette you should buy a corvette. On top of that, a rotary sports car is similar to a 911 in its pursuit or preserving a celebrating the companies history. I’m not saying that the LS is a bad engine because it isn’t and anyone who says it is a bad engine is an idiot. The LS is a wonderful

Plates like this were never cool.

Because Mazda wants to make a rotary powered sports car for the same reason that Porsche makes the rear engined flat six 911 even though something like the cayman ultimately makes more sense. Because it is a huge part of their heritage.

This is speaking purely off of what I know about materials and engine technology and what I know about the Rotary engines that mazda has used; But material science has come a LONG way since the last rotary engine was designed. The renesis in the RX-8 wasn’t much different from the 13B in its predecessor. The main

Thank you so much. Now to go kill 8 hours.

........How would i watch said live stream.

Well they could use a big ass capacitor and optimize it like KERS. Keep in mind, they now have allllll of toyota’s hybrid tech and experience to toy around with which will dramatically reduce their R&D costs

COTD

Consider this an apology for doubting you. If the rest of what you have said comes true, I’ll be lining up at a Mazda dealership, checkbook in hand, in a few years to get my hands on on.

FAN-GIRLING INTENSIFIES!!
