My partner has a severe gluten intolerance, and Jersey Mike’s is one of the very, very few fast food-ish places she can eat. She’s told me that it’s not just swapping out the bun—they change gloves, wipe surfaces, briefly pause other sandwiches to avoid cross contamination. It’s an effort that I know is super

I’m pretty sure that if I didn’t have Carplay in my current car, I would just want a tape deck to have the adapter to listen to stuff and a little vent mount for directions and that’s it. None of the in between steps have been worth a damn for me.

I think you’re one syllable off from a lovely haiku

These are $30,000 with none of that expensive work done. Trucks cost $30,000ish and up (and UP!). That’s how much it costs. The price of a truck.

What was the draw of trikes back in the day? My dad’s buddy had a couple when I was a kid in the 90s (so they were leftover from their heyday, late-70s-80s?).

I made the drive from the absolute NW corner of Connecticut to the Hartford airport once in absolute record time in one of these things in this color...

This has both a better kitchen and laundry situation than my current apartment.

I don’t love the clutch on my Fit (2018). It’s always just felt too light. It took me a long time to get used to it. But I recognize that I learned to drive a stick on a 70s-era Chevy dumpy truck and a couple old Ford tractors and at the time I got the Fit I was also driving an 86 CJ7, so at least part of that is me.

You’re right on the “running out” issue. I also write this from my studio apartment (which could a bigger one several miles out of town) that’s walking distance to work and has a small efficient car parked out front (that hasn’t moved since Sunday).

I have a hard time feeling bad on the gas prices issue for a society that has spent decades arranging life to live as far away from things as possible and to drive the biggest things to get there and to do it all in a way that depends on forms of energy that we know are eventually going to just run out.

When I bought my current car I had a generally positive experience at the Honda dealer. The salesman was fine enough and generally pretty open and helpful.

My wife and I used to argue about this all the time.

Eric Clapton and Van Morrison came together to cut a song about this slideshow madness.

Fit out and HR-V in because...

It’s nice to see politicians work across the aisle to get things like this taken care of for all Americans so half of them can get back to work making life harder for the most vulnerable and the other half can go back to not being able to do a quarter of the shit they get elected for.

I love it when these things come up: simultaneously masturbating to Reagan as a deity while also fearing the CIA (not wrongly) when he was a big proponent of expanding its powers within and beyond the US.

Yeah let’s go back to this master of international relations:

Isn’t taking people’s shit when it’s involved (or also sometimes not) in a crime then selling it pretty standard operating procedure down here?
