Yeah, I'm really not sure why it isn't just a standard move. You can get through the whole game without it, technically, but it would be a real pain.

Blade Wolf is basically where the whole game has to click for you to go on. I had no idea how to use the Parry mechanic well, then that fight came and I kept getting my butt kicked…and then suddenly I just got it. It's definitely a weird way to block, though, and I full on prefer Bayonetta style dodging.

It's a very hard game to get into, and I will admit as a huge fan that there are parts, especially at the start, that you kind of just need to truck through. Once it clicks, though…it really clicks.

Necron is such a painful fight. Best tip I can give is to use that chance it gives you to switch up your party and their equipped skills just to handle it. It is also such a weird, out-of-nowhere moment that it took me a bit to appreciate it as a final fight.

I'm trying to make this weekend and the next two weeks just be about playing things that I'm comfortable with; I have no intention of starting anything new until Breath of the Wild and the Switch come out. So, it's been more Fire Emblem Heroes, some Splatoon, and popping The Wonderful 101 back in. Whole lot of things

I think with all the Platinum games I've played, my first playthrough involved a lot of consolation prizes, stone medals, and…whatever the lowest rank was in Metal Gear Rising (F? D?). But, getting through Operation 001 means you took down Laambo and Owrowchee, aka one of the most satisfying and spectacular kills in

I feel like Wonderful 101's combat becomes more satisfying the more you learn the enemies. Figuring out what enemies are vulnerable to team attacks, which ones you're better off using Unite Guts to repel, what attacks can be blocked by what weapons, it all makes for combat that, once you have it down, turns battles

My wife is a huge fan of the Grace/Hannah/Mamrie triple threat, and I definitely appreciate how good they are at their jobs. Hoping this goes well for her.

Nothing hurt more than laboring over a Miiverse drawing for it to get a mere 1 yeah.

Miiverse often became the cesspool described, but there was one area where I don't think it suffered nearly as much, and in fact thrived the way it was supposed to: Splatoon. The community started off as a meme haven, and it was honestly amazing. The game's sense of humor mostly revolves around puns, and rather than

I really liked being able to get advice. It felt like the classic elementary school lunch table; post a screenshot of an area and say "I don't know how to get up here!" and odds are that someone would pop in with a helpful tip.

Yeah, easily one of the best uses of Miiverse. I liked trying to put as much detail as possible in one minute.

Part of the reason I recommend Awakening is that it is a very accessible strategy game. I think it was the first one of its kind that I played; before that I'd done some RTS's and Civilization, but not a tactical RPG. The fact that it has casual mode is nice as well, removing the terror of permadeath from the equation.

3DS is an awesome system to get! Couple recommendations for your future (basically my top 3DS games): Link Between Worlds, Kirby: Planet Robobot, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Kid Icarus Uprising. That last one is a bit controversial just because of its control scheme, but I personally thought it was incredible. If you're

I'm getting a Switch and BotW and I'm still worried about YouTube thumbnails and such. I might have to mute Zelda on YouTube and Twitter just to avoid anything; I muted Pokemon on YouTube when Sun and Moon were coming out. But, I mean…I have a life. I have a job. I'm not going to be able to devote a whole week to

The Virtual Console and streaming questions are…disappointing that we don't know anything yet. It's nothing to stop me from getting one (I haven't actually played the VC on Wii U in a while; any gaming time I've felt more like devoting to new titles), but I definitely want to know. I really am hoping they avoid the

I'm pretty eager for ARMS, and my wife is even more so. The fact that we'll have to get another set of Joy-Con is a bit upsetting, though. Although, I also figure that A) we'll need more anyway so that everyone can play games like Mario Kart when I visit my family, and B) ARMS does have traditional controls, so one of

I had mostly stones in the first Bayonetta as well. I blame those annoying quick time events. I went back through it and got better awards later. Bayonetta 2 is fortunately a lot more forgiving on the whole "instant-death quick-time event" thing.

It's definitely made me want to check out one of the Persona games…more, I guess. I've wanted to play Persona 4 for a while now, but this really amped my interest. I also only had a passing understanding of Fire Emblem (have only played Awakening, Birthright, and Conquest), but TMS only really served as a
