Since this is getting misunderstood repeatedly let me clear it up... Kids said awful things in the games when I was growing up, much worse than this. I’m not saying it was a good thing; but it was a thing.

My point wasn’t very clear and I apologize for that. We talked all kinds of shit; and I heard things a lot worse than that. I can remember a kid we played against telling someone they were going to rape their mom while he was shooting free throws.
I think my point didn’t come off very clearly. It’s horrible, but would have it been different if the kids said it on their own without instruction? Because when I played kids said all kinds of awful shit to each other. A lot worse than that.
Agreed, but it would not have been uncommon for a kid to say something like that. Granted it was the 90's and I hope we’re a little better than that as a society.
I agree that it’s not good, but it still happened. A lot. Lot of comments about mothers, sister, the players sexually orrentation.
Is shit talking not common in high school sports any longer? Our coach would have never told us to say anything, but we talked a lot.
What a shame that nobody was there to see Andre Drummond shoot 100% from the foul line.
They have separate editorial boards and owners though, so while they share resources they are not the same paper. I’d say the News is much more conservative in tone.
Thanks. I just knew it wasn’t reported today. Saw a bunch of people sharing the Free Press article on Facebook over the weekend.
I hate to nitpick, but the Free Press, Detroit’s superior paper, reported it late Friday.
Sometimes I get jealous of you guys and wish I wrote about sports for a living, but now is not one of those time.
I feel really dumb now because that’s what I always thought it referred to. I always heard it in reference to sore losers; so I assumed, “oh because they got their butt kicked.”
And you know Trevor Bauer is going to use his extra time to reread Atlas Shrugged.
It’s almost like you either didn’t read the article you’re sharing or completely missed his point about the union and collective bargaining.
Should I tweet this article to him?
Thank you! It kills me that the same people saying “it doesn’t protect them from employers!” are the same ones who lose their shit about the first amendment when a white lady loses her job when she tweets something racist.
Reading the line about Phil Jackson smoking dope made me come to a realization... Did the Knicks sign Joakim Noah last year just so Phil had someone to smoke with?
This is suburbia as I remember it now.
Christian Dawkins is the son of Lou Dawkins, who coached Saginaw High and has a very close relationship with Tom Izzo. Anyone ask Draymond what he thinks of all this yet?
Do you understand how jokes work?
