What kind of “experts” don’t suggest a Honda Accord Sport 2.0T which is a similar motor to the Type R.   Comes in a Manual Transmission and is a great family sedan and what I’d expect would be Honda reliability.

Like I said, it’s unique to every situation. Around here diesel is only ~$0.30 more expensive. Parts more expensive? Sure. More fragile? That’s debatable. DEF only costs ~$15 every 15,000 miles. Oil changes were more expensive.
