I understand the manual sentiment, but I can tell you that there is still a lot of fun to be had in the auto Miata, and I’m really glad they offer one so I can enjoy it.  I can’t use the pedals. I have to drive with only my hands, but the car still puts a huge smile on my face.

Wow. Those are real questions rather than just bagging on Tracy.

David’s been rustitutionalized.

Is there anything that you will be doing on this road trip that you couldn’t do, better, in a Subaru Outback?

So I’m not crazy for putting $13k down on a $23k car. Thanks!

Good questions selected for today’s post, Tom.   Thank you!

Conversely, here’s what most BRZs with 27 miles on them look like.

Why so durable?

David recommended the VW camper, I don’t think he’s allowed to recommend Jeeps on these things.

And since she doesn’t have to drive it around town regularly, $15k would buy a nice pickup with a camper shell.

As someone who had a climbing affliction earlier in life, and as an adult now that knows better than to repeat certain mistakes, may I heartily recommend either the 4Runner, or, even better, a Tacoma. A smaller SUV is going to end up, putting it politely, becoming a superfund site after a few adventures.

I’m here to tell you that Hummer was good, and America should forgive it.

Oh and you can sleep in it better and haul more stuff than the rest of the jeeps you still own.

Dude...

The good thing is, if you get the Liberty, the junkyards around here are LITTERED with them so parts are easy to come by. I’m not kidding either. LKQ Toledo has 13 of them.
My other half just got rid of hers. You wouldn’t BELIEVE how bad of a condition the engine was in while still running. An entire bank of plugs

Just got a ridiculously good deal on a 2wd 2002 4Runner at $1,800. She needs new springs/shocks/tires and I should prudently do the timing belt swap ASAP but hoping to breathe new life into her. They can be had. Do you have an aversion to full-size trucks like Tahoes and Yukons? Those can be had for a song these

Yeah good point. Actually, if you can find one that isn’t covered in rust (and good luck with that) a Mazda Protege5 is a fun wee hatch that’d be in your price range. I had one for a few years and it was always a solid driver and never let me down mechanically.

Nissan has a magical ability to check off all the right boxes and still get it all wrong.

The first rule about MT anti-theft is you do not talk about MT anti-theft. Everyone reads the internet, now these future car jackers are out there learning MT, how to locate kill switches or simply flat-bed my P.O.S. car.
