I don't think the point of her article is to argue the validity of every single inmate/free citizen relationship. I think it's more along the lines of "there's often more to a story than meets the eye" and stories of women in love with those incarcerated are often painted with a reductive / misogynistic brush.
@pugsnthugs: I think it probably depends on what you teach. I taught elementary school music for several years and there were always scads of home documentarians at school events. I can see how it would be different for someone who taught a different age / subject.
