I still only remember a few numbers, two of them being numbers i grew up with and one of them is my friend's default voicemail greeting (she never bothered setting a personal greeting).

related: when watching movies on an ipad in landscape (volume control in upper left corner), cupping your hand over the top-right corner (there's a speaker there) will redirect the sound toward you. Hand position is important; I generally have my palm facing me and have my fingers surround the speaker while leaving…
flipboard is great but it doesn't load enough articles. it wont store even a days worth of my feeds
i agree, plus byline has a free edition
I had a class in middle school that required us to count TV commercials that we see in an hour/day/week. It was then that I realized how ubiquitous ads were and how influential they could be. I started trying to block out ads by literally covering my ears and closing my eyes during commercial breaks.
I loved that scene because I agree that advertising creates subliminal needs and desires without our conscious mind realizing.
making ads that are offensive or annoying is another advertising strategy that makes you remember the ad. I makes no difference if you like the ad or product, you will remember it if it evokes an emotional response, negative or otherwise. Therefore, you are just as susceptible to advertising as anyone else.
I got 2 of this 23" model from HP. They're fantastic.
yeah i liked the look of it better before i read what it said in full size. I don't think it would be appropriate for work.
i dig em! my fave is heart gaming (i'm a gamer geek). how did you make the more abstract ones, particularly the grey one with the blue streaks on the side (diagonal down-left from heart gaming)?
I think digital editions of just about everything are overpriced. For example, newspapers, magazines, music, etc. Why is a NY Times iPad digital subscription more expensive than a monday-friday subscription? Same for magazines. Music is still around $10 for an album when i pay 1.29 per track, and i don't even get…
I think sometimes firms are unwilling to pay people more than they absolutely have to, and they tend to flirt with how low they can go when the economy is bad. If you're a valuable employee and you believe you're justifiably underpaid, you should confront your boss and tell them so before you start looking elsewhere.…
PDF vulnerabilities are what made jailbreaking possible, and now hackers are using the same concept for malicious hacks. Also, malware sometimes presents itself as a useful program (like a browser toolbar). Not sure what the Mac OS security model does to prevent PDF attacks, but not every attack comes in the form of…
One executive at a big financial firm told me to keep my resume to just one page, and to include fewer bullet points with more detail in each to make i more palatable to a reader. I then sent a copy of the one-page resume plus my original 2-page resume to a recruiter and they said hands down the 2-page resume was…
I like loose tea, and I use the following methods of steeping my tea.
What you invest in depends largely on:
The easiest way to start saving for retirement is with an employer offered retirement plan (e.g. 401(k) or 403(b). I say they are easiest because the employers do most of the work, contributions are tax-deductible and withdrawn from your paycheck without ever entering your grubby paws. IRAs (either Roth or…
Navigating the lifehacker website from the side bar is a bit inconsistant. I can click into lifehacker fine from google reader or external sites, but when i navigate using the sidebar the article becomes unclickable/unselectable so I can't followlinks inside of articles. Anyone else have that problem or just me?
