The asteroid theory wasn't even really CONCEIVED until the Alvarez iridium theory… so that was a really bad screwup. That was the most glaring to me too… but there were others I've forgotten - mostly having to do with slang, etc.

They definitely did make the stylistic choice to emphasize the music. It clearly was intended to be a montage set to music rather than it just being "background" or emphasis music… so, not to everyone's taste for sure… and anyone's opinion I suppose even if such things are to their taste as to whether they carried it…

(Incidentally, this is not the show's first use of the piece. An earlier episode used it, though it was a different orchestration, not just piano and strings. Part wrote several versions.)
