    Here's the Autohotkey command I use. If nircmd.exe isn't in your path, you can use an absolute path.

    On Windows you could also use Nircmd's speak command to read the text out loud with an Autohotkey shortcut.

    You're right. Never mind on the Live CD in a VM idea :)

    I'm not a fan of rebooting my machine just to check my bank balance, but I'm curious about the security benefits of booting a live CD in a virtual machine (VirtualBox for instance). It's more convenient than rebooting, yet still provides a clean, read-only environment to do secure browsing.

    @bobkoure: Another difference is that you don't pay for bandwidth with Rackspace, just the storage. S3 charges $.10/GB for transfers in addition to charging for storage.

    @roman540: I've found so many useful apps and suggestions from Lifehacker comments, SnapTimer was a chance for me to give back to the community.

    @jdsmn: SnapTimer can run a program when the time is up to lock the screen (an AutoHotkey script or lockws with nircmd) but it doesn't satisfy your other request of not being able to pause it.

    @BulldogDaddy: You're missing the point - a 100 character password was no more secure because Amazon was only hashing the first 8 characters. Don't blame the users for this, it was entirely their fault for not using a better hashing algorithm.

    @sfdj: +1 I have had the same positive experience. They have superior customer service, I have the 2% CC that gets paid directly into my Schwab account each month, and being able to use any ATM for free is great.
