I think you’re missing the fact that the SS isn’t decontented like the base GT. No one should be surprised that a car with more standard equipment (SS) will be more expensive (than a base GT).

Realistically, alot of those buying V8s are enthusiasts in it for the performance. For those individuals the Camaro may be a the better value depending on its final curb weight and performance.

Of course there is, its not an apples to apples comparison. You can’t compare a stripped down GT to a SS with Brembo’s/Transmission + Diff coolers and say “Oh boy look!!! The Camero is moar expense!!!!111”

The shifter in the R8 makes me a little chubby.

Price difference isn’t THAT much, performance pack GT is $35-36K.

Works for Porsche? Honestly i think they nailed the Camaro “look” with the 5th gen. They were right to build on it, not scrap it.

You know GMs goal is profit right?

If its heavier its gotta be a better deal, amirite?

I disagree. I like the fact that it still looks like a Camaro and they kept alot of what made the 5th gen so special.

Because they’re giving you a car that’s using a state of the art platform and brand new engines for a little higher cost than the mustang which is mostly reusing an old platform and engines?

Dis.

you thought it would be less than the $35K they start at today?

Depends. You have to account for the fact Hellcats/GTXXXs will be much lower volume and will have additional development costs which can’t always be shared with other higher volume programs. ZL1 isn’t exactly in the same category since the engine/MagRide was pulled from the parts bin.

Depends how much you care about cars.

They moved it to a completely different platform (Alpha), use an all-new range of engines, and not a single body panel is shared with the outgoing car yet it still doesn’t seem “all new” to you?

Just because they didn’t completely throw out the old design language doesn’t mean it isn’t all new.

Interesting that Chevy decided to not offer a decontented/non-performance V8 model, surely that’ll lose them some sales right out the gate. The 1LT with a V6 upgrade will be closer in price to a base GT than a base SS. Doesn’t seem quite right. The new 3.6 better be damn good.

That 1.4 also responds really well to aftermarket maps/tunes = 200-220/whp

is it fast?

I have numerous unpleasant experiences. The worst is probably the time i was on an 11hr redeye to South Africa back in 2008. They were about to serve dinner (I was sitting in the front exit seat next to the gallery, leg room ftw, seriously i thought i was the luckiest guy in the world) and was watching Twilight
