Oh yeah, I read the AVClub review and thought, “that was a well-reasoned analysis of Discovery. But where can I get my fix of shrill white-hot apoplectic nerd-rage?”

I don’t think you’re wrong. I actually like The Orville and Discovery equally. I agree that The Orville has a better grip on what Star Trek used to be and think Discovery is trying to write a path to a new future for the franchise.
I agree. She’s being a clickbait jerk.
Seriously, can someone less emotional and maybe a little more objective start reviewing Discovery? You know, someone who can actually discuss pros and cons of an episode without having a meltdown? Maybe a review like this - https://www.avclub.com/burnham-meets-the-emperor-and-discovery-finds-a-new-gro-1822278505
And it’s none other than the flagship of the Terran emperor. As so many of you have guessed, it’s Georgiou.
As Last Looks go...I am fine with the parallelism.....I may be crying about it even now in the most beautiful way....
Rob - I’m largely on the same page as you. Born in 1976, and Luke Skywalker is my hero.
You have written and entire article taking offense at an entirely imagined slight against the Japanese people. Are you Japanese? No, right? Do you have experience or understanding of Japanese culture? If so you are not giving the impression.
I preface this all with not reading a lick of anything from him.
Lots of people use a nom de plume.

Then maybe the article title should be “Thor: Ragnarok’s Hela Is advertently Marvel’s First Coded Queer” for people like me too dense or uncaring enough to parse millenial-SJW-speak. Ha!
Yeah I know that but you’re still splitting hairs. I stand by my original post.
I’d be down with some Kinghts of the Old Republic prequels
Yes we do.
Old Man here 100% disagreeing with you. I am pumped for some new stories in Star Wars that aren’t prequels and aren’t part of the Skywalker Saga.
If this is truly a blank canvas for him to work with in the world of Star Wars, that’s amazing. Moving outside of direct connections to the Skywalker family and their peripherals (I’m looking at you Han Solo movie and potential Obi-Wan movie) would be a welcome breath of fresh air.
Uh, yeah, that title is pretty misleading, some would say click-baity. If by queer you mean gay, then no she is not ever shown to be that, her sexuality is never brought up. If by queer you twist the meaning to be a subversive, enigmatic character then yes I guess so?...
And to prove that the Disney taskmasters had broken him, Hamill added, “There are five lights.”
