This is an interesting observation. Also, the buybacks will need to be transported to a recycle/disposal facility, have the fluids disposed of properly, parts recycled, etc., all of which require quite a bit of energy.
Because two wrongs don’t make a right. Your example about stealing money from each other advocates both an emotional response to a perceived wrong, and vigilante justice. “You fucked me, so now I’m going to fuck you.” is the way the Mafia operates. Is that really the way you want to see society working?
Additional justice would be if he got ticketed for a host of safety violations as drives along sitting on a milk crate with no lights, turn signals, horn.
Have no idea what you are saying, but I won’t lose any sleep over that. Didn’t anyone ever tell you that talking like that in the real world is rarely effective? Save it for your pop psychology classes, where people might actually care.
Or something.
As has been already mentioned, the BBC had nothing to do with this other than reporting the “news”. But given the incredibly poor grammar in nonsensical first sentence of the article, I can see where people think the BBC is actually instigating this sale.
I was going to make the same comment about the BBC having nothing to do with this, but now I wish I could give you more stars for your excellent reply! Well done.
That’s an impressive feat of changing the subject. My comment was not directed at Amazon’s business practices, which I understand quite well. My comment was a dig at Alanis King’s apparent endorsement and/or support of censorship, regardless of the circumstances.
I thought as much :).
I could be wrong, but your second to last paragraph sure sounds like you’re in favor of censorship. If so, you’re in good company: Stalin and the various Soviet governments, the Nazis, the Khmer Rouge, the Chinese, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Belarus, wartime governments everywhere....
What makes you think they know how to use a phone?
Imagine how much money McDonald’s will save when they automate all the food prep jobs.
It does this whenever it’s told.
Not always. In the People’s Republic of Massachusetts (for example) you pay sales tax on all vehicles that get registered, new or used. If you buy a $10,000 used car, you pay sales tax on that $10K. Got the seller to write you a bill of sale listing the sale price as $500 on that $10K? When you go to register it, an…
WHHhhhaaaat?
My understanding of history is that the American Revolution came about because of exasperation and frustration, not “anger”. The anger comes when your family and friends suffer, and that’s justifiable, so perhaps Ben’s words of wisdom are not universally applicable?
Us Texans could pull that off too...
Eat. When was the last time you feel asleep while eating....?
