I think it would have gone much, much better had the film stayed focused on the relatedness between the various pairings and on the evolution of feelings over the weekend without getting sidetracked into the sci-fi aspects.

I'm trying to remember what about Eternal Sunshine was 'romantic'… Nope.
.
That's where the movie failed, and failed badly for me. Theirs was a relationship utterly without charm. When you make a film about someone fighting to get something back, and that something has the emotional resonance of a gum wrapper, it cannot

Being stuck at the vacation house was a kind of punishment? And why did she deserve it?

Except, doesn't real Ethan appear genuinely surprised in the last few seconds when he realizes—as he's offered a breakfast including bacon—that he's with fake Sophie?

I always wonder why some people are pleased to announce they're incapable of looking deeply into things. Something to keep under your hat, no?

Tom Petty's still alive? Huh.

Saying so without reference to its length makes no sense.

How else do you propose s/he share her feelings at length without clogging the comments section? Seems like a reasonable way to try to connect with people.

Not to pick up on just a minor point of what you wrote, but I think i'd like to go when i'm wide awake.

Does anyone happen to know if early stage Parkinson is physically painful?

but it left a deep impression on me.
