There is a reason why the 7 pound kit from Ford Racing, if installed by a dealer or Ford tech, is warrantied for a period of 12 months/12k miles, while the 9 pound kit isn’t warrantied at all.

If the shoe fits, it wouldn’t be the first time one was driving drunk and slamming into things with bad results.
You speak of balls, and yet it doesn’t take much testicular fortitude to assume things while typing on a keyboard. If you’re that interested in balls, and/or waiting for yours to drop, I’d highly suggest a stint in our armed forces. There is no longer a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, and at the very least, they’ll…
well, in all fairness....the Camry driver was drunk.
Hmmm......I wonder why?
Did it sell?
There’s a reason for that, and failure rate has quite a bit to do with it. The other part, is that 74-85 rotary housings aren’t in very high demand. Plenty of 86+ housings to be had, though, amazing how just 1 year difference in manufacturing makes such a great difference in parts availability.
I agree it is worth the price in parts, but if Walmart is selling a vacuum cleaner for 1/4 of its MSRP, and I already have 2, is it really worth it? Here’s my response to someone else that made the same point:

Yeah? I’ll take that bet.
Yeah, joke away.
Then by all means, buy it, attempt to restore it, and report back to us about how your project and “mighty need” are doing.
As I stated previously, if this is your thing, then go for it. I have driven just under 350 miles one way in order to get a new car that I wanted, at a great price. I have driven almost 600 miles one way in order to pick up an older car that I wanted to restore.
First, you have to realize that this is Jalopnik, and as such, I’d say it’s fair to assume that almost half of the posters who come here have never personally performed anything more strenuous than an oil change. Quite likely up to 2/3rds have never performed anything more complicated than an alternator replacement or…
