I gotta chime in on this one. I was in this same boat three years ago. I had a long list of cars I was interested. The Finnance Committee(my wife) had approved the exact same budget. I bought a 1978 Datsun 280Z for $4800. I bought it from a guy south of Macon, GA and drove it home to central Kentucky.

What does the tool situation look like? There’s nothing more frustrating than not having the right tool and either breaking/rounding every fastener or running to Walmart at 1am and filling your toolbox with junk that does the job poorly.
