As someone who works in the auto industry, this is terribly mis-informed. First of all, you absolutely can’t make the car perfectly safe for the entire range of human body types. Vehicles aren’t very safe for people over 6'2" either, but the article doesn’t mention that.

Interesting concept. The problem here remains the same with solar - you require sun, which is great for summer peaks but does little in colder areas where winter peak is as big, if not bigger, of an issue on the grid. There’s not going to be a lot of evaporation going on while the lakes are frozen and heating demand
