Does anyone on here own one of these generation Fusions? Maybe someone can go check to confirm the “VO” embossing.

They are mostly frontal crash tests, since that’s by far the most common type of impact in the real world. For the most part you see a full frontal rigid barrier, 40% overlap frontal deformable barrier, 30 degree offset frontal rigid barrier, 25% overlap frontal rigid barrier, side pole test, side deformable barrier

IIHS buys cars off the lots to avoid this exact problem. The automakers don’t get to choose which vehicles they test.

IIHS is only focused on the North American market and doesn’t test European vehicles. That would be the EuroNCAP.

It depends on the automaker. I know for sure that certain automakers have always included symmetrical standards so that any improvement on the driver’s side must go on the passenger side as an internal due care specification. HOWEVER, I also know certain automakers (ahem, Ford) were recently caught when IIHS decided

You realize that’s exactly what IIHS does, right? No one is required to meet their standards. In fact, the federal minimum requirements are actually pretty low. You then have IIHS and NCAP doing additional testing, publishing the results for everyone to see, and the market responding by having safer cars because

You forget that there’s often two people in an impact. Sure, it often results from one person being stupid, and we shouldn’t reward that, but what about the poor schmuck they run into who was doing everything right? What about extenuating circumstances, such as road defects or inclement weather? Sometimes things are

It has to do with a number of factors. Primarily, it’s due to the fact that these impacts in the real world don’t tend to be with other cars. They’re usually with utility poles, trees, guard rails, etc. The deformable barriers are meant to simulate other cars. Basically, if you’re hitting another car, it’s pretty big

I used to own a 2006 Hyundai Accent in high school. That thing was a perfect high school car. It was good on gas, kind of entertaining to toss in corners, not super fast (which sucked at the time but is probably good in hindsight). I abused the crap out of it but it was always a faithful companion. A bigger rear seat

That thing is one sexy sedan..... up to the C-pillar. I’m really not feeling that rear end. It somehow already feels dated. Plus I feel like there’s just a bit of Bangle butt going on with the trunk protruding so high above the tail lights.

I’d be curious to see how this handles facial hair. I know lots of the wacky beards/mustaches on they key hipster demographic are pretty damn thick and can change relatively frequently.

Pennywise’s power over people comes from their fears. You need to really examine exactly what’s going on when someone attacks Pennywise to understand why that has the ability to damage him. When the Losers attack Pennywise, it’s the ultimate rejection of this fear. It’s them standing up to him, overpowering him

Absolutely this. Honestly, I firmly believe that’s the correct approach to the problem anyway. Teaching should always be about asking questions. That’s the way my dad always helped me. He taught me that it’s more important to think through a problem and thoroughly understand it than to just get a right answer.

Awesome article. The FD RX-7 is my personal favorite car. I just think the thing is so damn beautiful and timeless. Plus rotaries, man!

Wow, that’s almost exactly the what my 244's odometer got stuck at. Continued on to almost 500,000 miles. It was still running, too when we ripped out the engine for a 302 swap, you just had to swap out the starter motor every time you wanted to start it.

Hey man, I got what you were saying. It was just a joke.

Still old enough? Were you planning to get younger?

Bonus points for removing the second and minute hand while you’re in there, making it so there’s only one had for a kid to look at if they don’t know how to tell time yet.

Why does it look like it’s wearing eye shadow?

Those tail lights are dope.
