...which is why no one is flat out anywhere in the video.

Absolutely fuckin' love this car! Jack you are living my dream man, i unfortunately don't have the drive to pursue it in real life as my focus is taken up in other ways but i completely understand how you could devote every spare breath into tuning your classic 911 to perfection and beyond.

You can see by your corner speed advantage that's it's not as simple as that, your 485 pounds lighter which helps corner speeds but you must be making similar aero numbers because your corner speed advantage is consistently averaging about 8 mph in slow or fast corners. You simply have more mechanical grip and similar

I think this is being looked at through the wrong lens... He's not doing the race-sticker bedecked Honda bragging about beating Mustangs (that didn't know they were racing) between stop lights and posting cellphone vids on YouTube thing. It's not a masculinity contest. This guy has been working on this project for a

If the video fails to properly explain it, the article certainly doesn't. There is no suggestion that a stock or even mildly modified '72 can keep up with a current GT3. The fact that the first modification is an engine swap should tell you that this is a pretty seriously modified car that is most likely a lot closer

I have read all of the comments posted and sadly it seems to boil down to jealously or apathy. What this guy has done in his garage in his spare time, is build an obsolete car into a modern competitor. If you have any idea how much goes into building and testing the new Porsche's and then modifying them for racing;

I think you're missing the point. He never ever said a average '72 is faster than a 991 Gt3. He's saying HIS '72 is faster than a 991 Gt3 because of the time and effort he's put into it...which is way more impressive to me than writing a check. He keeps making incremental changes to pick up a few 10ths every year.

Did you see the owners response? It was actually a decent one. Not a "GTFO!", but a "yeah, you're right." I still dont know if I agree with some of it (and his other responses) though. He's really keen on trying to point out "I BEAT A 991 GT!@#!$!%!"

I'm pretty sure the GT3 driver was actually Randy Pobst, since that was one of Motortrend's laps he was comparing against.

Now playing

Full specs on the car can be seen in his other video. Steve Millen ran a 1:33 in an '08 GR3RS. Jack may have a tricked out car, and he may spend all his time only at Willow, but I don't think he's ever said a stock '72 would beat a current GT3. I think this is sort of the beauty of what someone can do. That they can

That GT3 was driven by Randy Pobst.

Well, maybe more 'scratch' than you, maybe not. Jack does all this on a fairly small budget. Heck, he DRIVES the 911 the 100 some-odd miles to the track.

Having watched the 911 evolve through the years from the first one, it never ceases to amaze me how much smaller and more compact the air cooled versions were. The newer ones like ponderous and huge in comparison. And, nothing can beat the sound of an air cooled Porsche flat 6 cylinder.

Well he's got vastly more imagination and scratch than I have so my critique of his speaking abilities counts for less than nothing anyway.

Jesus this guy's voice betrays an utter lack of personality, I'm guessing he's a dentist.

It's not how fast you can go - it's how little you slow down.

The video would have been much better without his commentary. I can read the data and watch the screen, I want to hear the sounds, not his voice!

Gordon Murray called. He likes your video.

singer, hands down.
