Companies engage in legal battles to eliminate competition under the guise of concern for the consumer, and this is how we end up with the bulk of our regulation. Dealerships lobby against Tesla, taxi companies lobby against Uber, and ISPs and large internet content providers lobby against each other.
We shouldn’t be taxing companies in the first place. It’s just a misguided attempt to tax rich people more when the best solution is to just get rid of deductions.
