Not gonna lie, Tokyo Drift is probably my third favorite in the franchise behind Fast 5 and the original. It’s not good, by any means, but I’ll still watch it absolutely any time it’s on TV.

Ryan Murphy ensures that a lot of stars won’t technically wind up doing sitcoms, but will do work that’s just as bad with the veneer of prestige.

Incurious is (as Ernest Cline would say) the perfect word for it. I mean, this is a guy whose book is set in a dystopia that he never bothers to explain between excruciating, repetitive infodumps about the OASIS (which is ALSO vaguely defined, somehow). He’s also really obsessed with peak oil rather than climate

Aw Jesus, it was directed by her husband. Just stop!

David, I can’t believe you wrote this whole article and didn’t even bother to ask if anyone had seen the poooooool? THEY FLIPPED THE BITCH!

Yes, that line reading of ‘Flat rate’ kills me every time. It’s perfect, and as you note, conveys so much in just two words.

I wish Strong had been able to talk more about Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which is one of my favorite films of the past decade (and probably the most underappreciated of my favorites). Strong gives a standout performance even in a cast of absolute ringers; he plays Jim Prideaux as simultaneously a terrifying badass

Beautiful weather today. Think I might free climb a colonial fortress!

*Just wear gloves when handling them.

Leti played by Birds of Prey star Jurnee Smollet.

My wife and I always laughed at when Rose got to Heaven, she just went straight for Jack and ignored the husband she made a life with?

L.A. Confidential, Men in Black, Grosse Point Blank, Boogie Nights, and Gattaca all came out in 1997 too. And I’m one of those people who even liked Fifth Element and Face/Off. We went to the movies almost weekly in 1997.

They see kindness as weakness. Which tells you all you need to know.

This episode of Doctor Who was traumatic AF

But their lives were useless. When the soldier’s gun jams, he calls for a lieutenant. Tic appears out of nowhere to point his gun Ji-Ah, prepared to end her life, but Young-Ja bravely places herself between her friend and the gun.

Did anyone else feel that Young-ja was in love with Ji-ah, and that part of her speech about it being okay to be different was not about her being communist, but about her being a lesbian? The way she touched Ji-ah seemed quite revealing to me.

My recollection was that Omar was openly gay rather than closeted.

The A-plot with Ruby was really incredible and well-done, one of the best storylines this show has done so far. Wunmi Mosaku is amazing in this role, and I’m so glad she’s gotten to take centre stage as Ruby. On the other hand, I really really wasn’t feeling Montrose’s subplot this episode. Everything he does and
