There is no fail safe in the laptop…. Leave a fully discharged battery for too long and you kill it. It’s a matter of time with draw. A laptop turned off does not have any draw on it other than natural discharge. The car has to power everything from the door locks to holding the presets of the radio and god knows what…

it never shuts down cause if it did you could not lock/unlock the car or anything. Try disconnecting the battery in your car every time you park your car.
