The whole thing, even when it originally premiered came off gimmicky and kind of silly. Strangely a more aggressive hip hop tune would have been a more fitting tribute.

When We Was Fab was not a song about the death of any member but kind of a memorial to the death and life of the band. It actually I think had a stronger impact on me than Harrison's song for Lennon (which in no way is a knock on that song, just a personal observation).
