Great list! Surprised to not see The Witch by Robert Eggers and Hereditary by Ari Aster on here, as they were quite massive feature debuts, but I’m sure there were quite a few runner-ups that didn’t make the cut.
Not sure if it’s already been addressed, but Bright Memory Infinite just dropped a new trailer with a release date :)
Was happy to find out Definitive Edition has a free Dragon Quest 8 DLC pack which contains an orchestral version of 8's world map theme. Over time, XI’s overworld theme got old/became headache inducing, and 8's is absolutely gorgeous. Still...XI is such an amazing game.
Hopefully gonna finally play Knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles. I’ve played Oblivion 900 times, but never the DLC. Eh...who am I kidding? I’m just gonna spend 19 hours downloading mods and ruining my game.
There’s something truly wonderful about Sega’s older sound chips. They’re SO...CHUNKY. Always loved it when that bass kicks in. Thanks for sharing this, Mike!
Such an awesome period of video game music...Eurobeat Rock-Organ Jazz Fusion Hairmetal. Reminds me a lot of Bloody Roar 2 and Dynasty Warriors 3.
Just....take my star.
I’m worried that 1/2 of the movie will be set in the modern world before we even see a monster, as how are they gonna have Mountain Dew and Doritos advertising time in a fantasy realm? Hoping for the best, though. It might be a quick intro into the world since there’s no scientist that needs to explain a giant machine…
I probably spent more time on RPG Maker for PS1 than any actual RPG. It was a total blast making nonsense that scratched that creative itch 10 year-old me needed
It’s only PC, and it’ll be a while, but Skyblivion is a great-looking remake in the works. It’s not what you’re wanting I’m sure, but it should scratch the newer-gen Oblivion itch when playable.
...I actually like it... *flees*
Don’t know why...but I’m actually kind of for this bug being a mechanic. I mean...it’s supposed to be an unforgiving wasteland, right? What better way for this to be a Fallout game than making it a little more soul-crushingly punishing?
This is stunning work — the way he uses a very limited palette makes them even better, something a lot of pixel artists don’t do often. Looks like he used a few color templates from Final Fantasy 6 (just judging from the muted tones, but I’m not gonna pretend to know what I’m talking about). Very cool work — thanks…
